Privacy Policy for Live Translated Subtitles

This Privacy Policy explains how the Live Translated Subtitles Chrome extension (the “Extension”), developed by ManiStack, handles information when translating subtitles and generating optional dubbed audio on supported YouTube, Coursera, and Vimeo pages.

1. Information the Extension Handles

• Google AI API key (authentication information): You may provide your own API key. It is stored locally through Chrome extension storage and is sent directly to Google only to authenticate requests you initiate. ManiStack does not receive or store your API key.
• Subtitle and caption text (website content): Caption text from a supported video may be sent directly to Google’s Gemini API to generate the requested translation or dubbed audio. The Extension processes only the content needed for its translation and dubbing function.
• Settings and local cache: Your language, subtitle appearance, voice preference, model selection, and feature settings are stored locally. Translations and generated audio may also be cached locally to reduce repeated API requests and improve playback.

2. How Information Is Used

The Extension uses this information solely to:

• retrieve captions available for the video you are viewing;
• translate those captions into the language you select;
• generate and synchronize optional dubbed audio;
• save your preferences and reduce duplicate API requests; and
• display operational status and errors related to these features.

We do not use or transfer information for advertising, profiling, unrelated purposes, lending, or determining creditworthiness.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

ManiStack does not collect your name, email address, physical address, payment or health information, personal communications, precise location, or general browsing history through the Extension. The Extension does not sell personal information and does not track activity across websites for advertising or analytics.

4. Third-Party Processing

When you use AI translation or dubbing, the relevant caption text and request data are transmitted directly to Google’s Gemini API over a secure connection. Google processes that data under its own Privacy Policy and applicable API terms. We do not sell this information or transfer it to other third parties.

5. Storage, Retention, and Deletion

Extension settings, the API key, translations, and audio cache remain in your local browser profile. They are not stored on ManiStack servers. You can clear generated content with the Extension’s cache controls, remove or replace the API key in its settings, clear the Extension’s site data in Chrome, or uninstall the Extension to delete locally stored data.

6. Security

Requests to Google are made using encrypted HTTPS or secure WebSocket connections. Keep your API key confidential and do not share it. Although reasonable safeguards are used, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

7. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Extension is not directed to children under 13, and ManiStack does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Extension.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the Extension’s functionality or legal requirements change. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
